4-Day Beaches & Backwaters of Kerala Cycling Holiday

Day 1. Kochi. On arrival we will check into the Old Courtyard Hotel, Fort Cochin - 200 year old Portuguese building, centered around a cobblestone courtyard. After a chance to relax and freshen up we have lunch, and then the rest of the afternoon to discover a little of this amazing city. Kochi (Cochin as it was known in colonial times) is a major port on the west coast of India, set on a cluster of islands surrounded by sparkling blue lagoons and backwaters. Its historic links can be seen in the Colonial Bungalows, an old Jewish Synagogue, Chinese fishing nets, the oldest European Church in India and a medieval Portuguese Palace. We finish the evening with a Kathakali dance performance.

Day 2  Marari Beach. After an early breakfast, we will commence our cycling for the day. Leaving the busy roads of Fort Cochin , we will hit the beach road that will take us to our destination for the day, The Arakkal Homestay. We will be riding through the fishing villages and coconut plantations listening the sea on one side. We will reach in time for lunch at Arakkal. We will spend the afternoon on the beach and later join the family at dinner.

Day 3 - Alleppey. After a relaxed breakfast, we will head to Alleppey, known for its serene backwaters. The route passes through country roads and small villages where we will see coconut husk being processed and made into coir ropes and mats. We will hit the backwaters and cycle along  the waters till we reach a jetty where will embark a wooden canoe and taken to Emerald Isle, a home stay on an island on the backwaters. After the evening tea, take a walk through the paddy fields and meet the local people or take a ride to the nearby village market
